Dortmund 1-3 Real Madrid: Ronaldo to seal an exciting victory
Bale opened the point, Cristiano Ronaldo responded when he
made an advance on his 400th appearance for Real Madrid, sealing an exciting
victory for the defending champion, while Real Madrid beat Dortmund 3-1 away at
Signal Iduna Park.
The 32-year-old made his 410th and 411th bet for the club in
his 150th UEFA club match after the sensational opening of Gareth Bale put
Madrid at the forefront of what proved to be a meeting exciting at State Iduna
Park.
Madrid came to the match that never won home against BVB,
but the spectacular ball won the victory after just 18 minutes.
It was an end-to-end confrontation that presented chances
for each side before Ronaldo made his last milestone with a finish consisting
of Bale Cross.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Dortmund hope for a comeback,
but Zinedine Zidane's men won two wins in two to defend their trophy when
Ronaldo beat his home in the final.
Despite Peter Bosz's call to caution at Monday's pre-match
press conference, Madrid's Dortmund entered the corner of the fire and may have
two initial counter-attacks.
First, Dani Carvajal pushed the box to the right just to
shoot Roman Burki, before Lukasz Piszczek simply refused a characteristic of
Bale after Ronaldo climbed on the same flank.
Madrid had the chance to escape a penalty in the 14th minute
but Keylor Navas hit the ball at the feet of Sergio Ramos after Maximilian
Philipp scored the goal.
However, in 18 minutes, the hostile defense of Dortmund was
punished by the balm lifestyle.
Carvajal found the space within 30 meters of goal and will
take a good pass on the Welsh star's way, sending a sublime volley in the upper
right corner and leaving Burki stranded.
: Real Madrid should have doubled his lead before the break,
Ronaldo twice shot and Captain Ramos lost a free throw from six yards, but
needed a substantial intercept of Raphael Varane to deny Aubameyang an open
goal after the break.
But Dortmund's lack of defense was ruthlessly punished four
minutes after the restart. Toni Kroos made a second half thanks to a good post
from the left and his middle left was shot by Ronaldo at 12 meters.
BVB needed a lifeline and did not take long to answer, as
Aubameyang drove Navas after Varane
failed to reach Gonzalo Castro center.
Aubameyang pulled out another wide-ranging opportunity from
the delivery of Mario Gotze as the BVB began to push hard for an accountant,
even though they were lucky not to acknowledge a penalty when Bale was
interrupted by Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
But the further they advanced, the more suspicious they saw
the break and Ronaldo sealed the victory 11 minutes from the moment he pushed
Luka Modric's passport before throwing past Burki at the nearest post.
