Andrea Pirlo announced that he would retire with professional football when his contract in New York City ends in December
Former Juventus, Milan and Italy icon has been on the side of Major League Soccer since 2015, but this season has been affected by injury problems.
As such, he feels that "the time has come" to hang up his boots.
And with the American season at the end of the calendar year, 38-year-old Pirlo believes it's time to move new grass.
"You realize the time has come," said Gazzetta dello Sport, WK winner.
"Every day you have physical problems, you can not train as you want because you always have a problem.
"Young players must play At the age of 38, it is good to give the boys room.
"I'm not angry, but I lend a hand to the coach and to the others.

Pirlo admitted that he still does not know what he will do next.
